Sports and Athletics- Their Importance in Society
Nowadays women engage themselves in sports and athletics as much as men. Both kids and adults engage in such and so are women and men. Moving around a neighborhood one is sure to find individuals participating in a soccer or basketball match among other sports and athletics. In elementary schools and all the way up to college it’s no different, sports and athletics have become almost mandatory. Below are some of the benefits of sports and athletics to our society.
These sports and athletics have been there since the days of our forefathers, maybe just some variations on the types that were then and these that are now. Their might just be some little difference on how things were done during that time, and what they are currently. They can be a means of passing out time or rather commemorating a certain occasion. The winner may not necessarily get a reward for it but often the feeling of accomplishment and being unbeaten would be enough.
The purpose of sports and athletics in the days of our forefathers may slightly be different from its role now. For instance youth of nowadays are susceptible to be drawn into drugs and other unethical behaviors. Using the youth as an example, now they are more prone to engage themselves in drug abuse and other sort of criminal behavior. This is usually brought about by idleness and association with the wrong influence. By involving youths in some kind of sports and athletics it keeps them engaged from time to time, minimizing or even eliminating this susceptibility.
Another role that sports and athletics play in the society plays is in keeping us healthy and fit. Well going to the gym for frequent exercises may not always be an option for some of us. Sports and athletics are an excellent way to raising a healthy and fit society, especially with the lifestyle we currently living where junk food is part of the norm. The result can be obesity and other associated health complications. We need to sweat it out from time to time, and that’s something sports can help you achieve.
Another importance of sports and athletics is on the possibility of getting an income from them. There are many sportsmen and women and athletes who have done quite well for themselves without necessarily having that university degree. They therefore provide a society with a means of getting an income, rather than depending on a white collar job or an education alone.
A society that embraces sports and athletics is on the right track to prosperity. A number of societal problems could actually be addressed through them.
